July 21, 1985: Rangers (45-27) at Tigers (55-35)

Tom Brookens smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Detroit Tigers beat the Texas Rangers by a score of 14 to 6.

Brookens was spectacular at the plate. He lashed a single in the 2nd inning, lined a base-hit which plated a run in the 4th inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 5th inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 7th inning. Detroit had 18 hits overall, while Texas had 12.

Walt Terrell(9-7) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Mike Mason(10-7) took the loss. He was touched for 11 hits and 3 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Brookens said 'next time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
