July 21, 1985: Yankees (51-39) at Twins (37-54)

Bert Blyleven whitewashed New York on 2 hits at METRODOME where the Minnesota Twins beat the New York Yankees by the score of 1 to 0.

Blyleven(11-7) dominated New York hitters. He didn't give up much, just 2 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings. Minnesota managed only 3 hits on the afternoon.

The losing pitcher was Joe Cowley(6-8). When questioned about his counterpart after the game, Cowley was lavish in his praise, 'It was obvious very early on that we were going to be in for a long night. Blyleven brought his 'A' game with him - he had good stuff and was able to spot it perfectly. He probably only made one or two bad pitches the entire game!
