July 23, 1985: Astros (44-50) at Phillies (38-54)

The Houston Astros edged the Philadelphia Phillies at Shibe Park by the score of 2 to 1. 

The game was won by Houston when they scored a run in the top of the 9th inning. After two were out Mark Bailey reached on an error. Harry Spilman followed next and he reached on an error. Bill Doran then drew a walk to load the bases. Dickie Thon came up and he reached on an error scoring the run. Dave Smith(2-2) got help from Jeff Calhoun who pitched great and earned his 3rd save. 

Don Carman(2-2) suffered the loss in relief. He was pinned with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 inning of work.
