July 23, 1985: Indians (36-60) at Rangers (46-48)

Designated hitter Andre Thornton knocked 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI at ARLINGTON STADIUM as the Cleveland Indians beat the Texas Rangers 8 to 5.

Thornton was in a groove all evening. The Texas fans hated to see him approaching the batter's box. He delivered a solo blast in the 1st inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 3rd inning, belted a three-run homer in the 5th inning and smacked a single in the 7th inning. Cleveland managed 10 hits in their victory.

Jamie Easterly(5-3) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Tom Waddell earned the save, his 9th. The loss was charged to Dave Stewart(4-5). He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.

When questioned, Pat Corrales remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'
