July 23, 1985: Orioles (44-48) at Twins (38-55)

Mark Salas slammed a homerun as the Minnesota Twins beat the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 10 to 6.

Minnesota took the lead for keeps in the bottom of the 3rd inning when they tallied 4 runs on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by Kirby Puckett who made the Minnesota fans a happy lot when he tripled bringing in two baserunners. Minnesota had 14 hits overall, while Baltimore had 9.

The win was credited to Mike Smithson(8-9) who went 7 innings allowing 5 runs. Mike Boddicker(1-10) ended up with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.

The win by Minnesota is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in recent days. Their record now stands at 38-55 only 2-8 in their last ten games. With the loss, Baltimore has a record of 3-7 lately, 44-48 overall.
