July 23, 1985: Tigers (56-36) at White Sox (47-44)

Britt Burns pitched 9 strong innings at COMISKEY PARK as the Chicago White Sox beat the Detroit Tigers by the count of 3 to 0.

Chicago brought 2 runs across the plate in the 4th inning. Chicago managed only 4 hits on the night. It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Burns(8-11). Todd Crane(9-6) was hit with the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 4 hits in 8 innings.

Sparky Anderson was obviously impressed with the pitching of Burns, 'That guy made us look a little silly out there tonight. We just couldn't get to him at all - everything was working for him. I just hope that he got that kinda performance out of his system.'
