July 25, 1985: Cardinals (56-38) at Padres (54-43)

Jack Clark hit a homer and had 2 RBI at JACK MURPHY STADIUM where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the San Diego Padres 5 to 2. 

St. Louis promptly took the lead in their half of the first scoring 2 runs. Vince Coleman kicked off the action when he drew a walk. Coleman got a good lead and stole second. Two outs later Clark came up and he bombed a two-run dinger. St. Louis had 8 hits for the afternoon. 

The victory was credited to Joaquin Andujar(8-8) who went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs. Jeff Lahti gained credit for his 17th save. Lamarr Hoyt(10-10) was hit with the loss. He gave up 5 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. 

With this win, St. Louis has a 56-38 record. They have been 6-4 lately. With this loss, San Diego has a 4-6 record of late, 54-43 overall.
