July 27, 1985: Mariners (48-50) at Red Sox (62-36)

The Boston Red Sox nipped the Seattle Mariners 3 to 2 at FENWAY PARK in a hard fought contest. 

Bruce Hurst(10-8) pitched a solid game. He went 8 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 walk dropping his ERA from 4.85 to 4.64. Seattle had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

Hurst got help from Bob Stanley who earned his 25th save. The losing pitcher was Bill Swift(3-7). He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 9 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
