July 29, 1985: Twins (41-58) at Mariners (48-52)

Shortstop Roy Smalley had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at The Kingdome as the Minnesota Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 5 to 3. 

Frank Viola(8-14) gave a fine effort for Minnesota. He went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 3 walks. Minnesota had 11 hits for the game and Seattle had 8. Viola was helped out by Ron Davis who recorded his 14th save. Matt Young(11-7) was the losing pitcher. He was unable to control the Minnesota offense and allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. 

'I struggled a bit out there tonight,' Viola said, 'but I toughed it out and we got the win.'
