July 29, 1985: Royals (57-42) at Tigers (58-40)

At TIGER STADIUM, the Detroit faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's duel. Bud Black(13-5) finally bested his Detroit counterpart, Jack Morris(11-7), by the score of 2 to 1.

Detroit never recovered after Kansas City took the lead in the 3rd inning scoring a single run. Detroit threatened in the 9th but Kansas City was able to put down the rally.

Dan Quisenberry gained credit for his 21st save. Morris ended up with the loss. He allowed just 6 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings.
