August 1, 1985: Cardinals (60-40) at Cubs (54-47)

Leon Durham jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the Chicago Cubs bested the St. Louis Cardinals 3 to 1 at WRIGLEY FIELD. 

The game started off with Chicago taking the lead in the first plating one baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Chicago had 9 hits for the afternoon. The victory went to Scott Sanderson(10-6) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Sanderson got help from Lee Smith who earned his 24th save. Danny Cox(5-8) was the losing pitcher. 

For Chicago the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been struggling in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. With the loss, the St. Louis ballclub's record is 60-40.
