August 2, 1985: Mets (68-34) at Cubs (55-47)

Dennis Eckersley had a strong outing as the Chicago Cubs defeated the New York Mets by the score of 2 to 0 at WRIGLEY FIELD. 

Chicago came up with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Ron Cey who made the crowd happy when he slapped a single bringing in two baserunners. Neither team managed to score after the 4th inning. 

It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Eckersley(13-7). Dwight Gooden(15-3) was the losing pitcher. Wth the win Chicago now has a record of 55-47. With this loss, New York has a 5-5 record of late, 68-34 overall.
