August 2, 1985: Padres (56-48) at Astros (49-54)

Glenn Davis had 2 base hits as the Houston Astros defeated the San Diego Padres in 11 innings 3 to 2 at Colt Stadium. 

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Houston came out on top in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Kevin Bass ripped a base-hit. Jose Cruz got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Jerry Mumphrey then ripped a one-base hit. Davis was up next and he slapped a base-hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Houston and the 34,247 home town fans in attendance. Houston banged out 8 hits on the night. 

The victory went to Charlie Kerfeld(2-1) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Mark Thurmond(7-3) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings. 

The Houston ballclub's record now stands at 49-54. With the loss, San Diego has a record of 4-6 lately, 56-48 overall.
