August 2, 1985: Mariners (51-52) at A's (40-63)

Mike Moore pitched 9 strong innings as the Seattle Mariners bested the Oakland Athletics 1 to 0 at OAKLAND COLISEUM.

Moore(15-7) simply dominated Oakland. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Oakland tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Jose Rijo(12-5) ended up with the loss. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 9 innings and not allowing an earned run.

'Moore gave us exactly what we needed tonight.' Chuck Cottier said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
