August 2, 1985: Phillies (42-59) at Cardinals (61-40)

In a close game it was the St. Louis Cardinals 5, the Philadelphia Phillies 3 at BUSCH STADIUM. 

In the bottom of the 7th inning St. Louis scored 2 runs. The critical plate appearance was by Bob Forsch who made the crowd come alive when he stroked a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners. Jeff Lahti pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 19th save. 

The win went to Forsch(11-6) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. John Denny(9-10) ended up with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings. 

The St. Louis ballclub's record now stands at 61-40. With the loss, the Philadelphia ballclub's record is 42-59.
