August 2, 1985: Brewers (42-59) at Tigers (59-42)

Ray Burris allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard for Detroit as the Milwaukee Brewers outscored the Detroit Tigers 9 to 0.

Burris(8-12) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Detroit offense. He allowed only 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 5.10 to 4.80. Milwaukee had 16 hits for the night.

The losing pitcher was Frank Tanana(12-4). He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings. 'Burris gave us exactly what we needed tonight.' George Bamberger said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
