August 3, 1985: Mets (68-35) at Cubs (56-47)

In a two run game the Chicago Cubs got by the New York Mets by the score of 5 to 3. 

Rick Sutcliffe(13-6) gave a fine effort for Chicago. He went 6 and 2/3 innings and surrended up 8 hits and 2 walks. Chicago and New York each finished the afternoon with 9 hits. 

Sutcliffe got help from Lee Smith who was credited with his 25th save. Ron Darling(13-9) absorbed the loss. He couldn't find the strike zone and allowed 9 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. 

'I struggled a bit out there today,' Sutcliffe said, 'but I toughed it out and we got the win.'
