Second baseman Damaso Garcia had 2 base hits and 3 RBI at EXHIBITION STADIUM where the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers by the score of 9 to 3. 

Texas found themselves trailing quickly as the Toronto bats came through in the first inning scoring 3 runners on 2 hits. Tom Henke relieved and was untouched by Texas as he recorded the save, his 23rd. 

Dave Stieb(19-5) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Burt Hooton(5-8) ended up with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 innings.
