August 4, 1985: Dodgers (63-42) at Reds (57-47)

Fernando Valenzuela pitched a 2 hit shutout and Mike Marshall blasted a homerun as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 1 to 0. 

The game was won by Los Angeles when they scored a run in the top of the 9th inning. Marshall blasted a solo shot. Los Angeles rapped out 7 hits for the afternoon. 

It was the 5th shutout of the year for Valenzuela(11-8). Mario Soto(16-8) suffered the loss. He allowed 1 run and 7 hits in 9 innings. 

Valenzuela was obviously very pleased with his performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time out!'
