August 4, 1985: Mariners (52-53) at A's (41-64)

In a tight game it was the Seattle Mariners 7, the Oakland Athletics 5 at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

Seattle had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning as they scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Donnie Scott who silenced the crowd when he delivered a single bringing in two baserunners. Roy Thomas was perfect in relief and got the save, his 9th. 

Bill Swift(4-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and allowing no runs. Tim Birtsas(7-4) took the loss in relief. He was not very effective, surrendering 3 runs in 2 innings.
