August 6, 1985: Mets (71-35) at Expos (51-56)

Third baseman Kelvin Chapman had 4 hits as the New York Mets defeated the Montreal Expos in 11 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at OLYMPIC STADIUM.

The score was tied at 4 after nine. New York ended up winning it in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Chapman doubled. After another out, Jesse Orosco came up and he laced a base-knock scoring the run. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.

The winning pitcher was Orosco(4-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Roger McDowell got the save, his 15th. Tim Burke(1-5) was the loser in relief.

With the win New York now has a record of a division leading 71-35. With this loss, Montreal has a 6-4 record of late, 51-56 overall.
