August 5, 1985: Phillies (43-61) at Cardinals (63-41)

Danny Cox had a complete game and Andy Van Slyke slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to 2 at BUSCH STADIUM.

Philadelphia was unable to recover after St. Louis went ahead in the 3rd inning when they tallied 3 runs on 4 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. St. Louis finished with 14 hits in the victory.

Cox(6-8) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Charles Hudson(3-10) was the loser. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.

With this win, St. Louis has a 63-41 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With the loss Philadelphia now has a record of 43-61.
