August 8, 1985: Astros (51-57) at Padres (60-50)

The Houston Astros bested the San Diego Padres by a 6 to 3 score at JACK MURPHY STADIUM.

Houston had 3 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning when they came up with 3 base hits. The key at-bat was by Craig Reynolds who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he ripped a one-base hit which was good for two runs. Houston had 10 hits for the night.

The winning pitcher was Mike Scott(6-12) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Scott got help from Dave Smith who was credited with his 19th save. Lamarr Hoyt(11-11) was given the loss.
