August 8, 1985: Cubs (57-51) at Cardinals (65-42)

John Tudor delivered 9 solid innings and Willie McGee lofted one into the cheap seats and had 2 RBI at BUSCH STADIUM where the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Chicago Cubs by the score of 7 to 1.

Chicago fell behind quickly as the St. Louis offense came through in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. That early scoring was all that Tudor(15-5) needed. St. Louis banged out 11 hits on the night.

Rick Sutcliffe(13-7) was charged with the loss. He gave up 9 hits and 1 walk in 6 and 1/3 innings. Jim Frey lamented, 'Tudor was really aggressive tonight. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one after another.'
