August 9, 1985: Astros (53-57) at Padres (60-52)

Right fielder Glenn Davis had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Houston Astros topped the San Diego Padres by a score of 7 to 5 at JACK MURPHY STADIUM.

Davis was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He hit a single in the 1st inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 2nd inning, hit a one-base hit in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th inning. San Diego threatened in the 9th but Houston was able to put down the rally.

Jeff Heathcock(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Heathcock was helped out by Dave Smith who recorded his 20th save. Mark Thurmond(7-4) took the loss. He gave up 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings and saw his ERA jump from 3.53 to 3.84.
