August 12, 1985: Angels (52-60) at Mariners (56-57)

Designated hitter Gorman Thomas slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Seattle Mariners staged a dramatic comeback over the California Angels by a score of 9 to 8 at The Kingdome. 

Seattle had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning as they scored 4 runs on 5 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ivan Calderon who excited the crowd when he slapped a one-base hit bringing home two baserunners. Both teams finished the game with 11 hits. 

Bill Swift(5-7) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. The losing pitcher was Donnie Moore(3-5) in relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 6 hits and 1 walk. 

Chuck Cottier was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans - they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
