Thornton was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 1st inning, stroked a one-base hit in the 5th inning and banged out a single in the 7th inning. Cleveland banged out 8 hits on the night.
