August 13, 1985: Royals (64-49) at Red Sox (69-44)

Hal McRae blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Kansas City Royals outscored the Boston Red Sox 7 to 6.

McRae had a big day against Boston. He banged out a single which brought home a run in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 7th inning. Boston had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The win was credited to Bret Saberhagen(14-7) who went 6 innings allowing 6 runs. Dan Quisenberry earned the save, his 26th. Bruce Kison(2-5) ended up with the loss in relief.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Saberhagen, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
