August 14, 1985: Royals (65-49) at Red Sox (69-45)

Left fielder Lonnie Smith rocketed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Bud Black went the distance as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Boston Red Sox 10 to 1 at FENWAY PARK. 

Smith had a great evening at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 5th inning and delivered a one-base hit bringing in a run in the 9th inning. Kansas City banged out 14 hits on the night. 

The win went to Black(14-6) who allowed 1 run in the game. Roger Clemens(14-7) was the loser. He served up 3 gopher balls in 5 innings. 

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Smith said. 'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
