August 16, 1985: Red Sox (70-45) at Yankees (67-48)

Designated hitter Mike Easler hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI at YANKEE STADIUM as the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 9 to 5. 

New York was unable to claim the lead after Boston went ahead in the top of the 6th inning scoring a single run. Boston had a total of 10 hits for the game. 

Al Nipper(7-10) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 7 innings. Bob Stanley got the save, his 30th. Ron Guidry(19-7) was the loser. He pitched 7 innings allowing 8 hits and no walks. 

'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said John McNamara, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'
