August 16, 1985: Phillies (49-67) at Cubs (58-58)

Scott Sanderson dominated striking out 11 Philadelphia batters and Chris Speier had 5 hits and 6 RBI as the Chicago Cubs crushed the Philadelphia Phillies 17 to 3. 

Speier enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lined a base-hit scoring two baserunners in the 2nd inning, delivered a single knocking in a run in the 3rd inning, singled which scored a run in the 3rd inning, banged out a one-base hit in the 5th inning and laced a base-hit plating a run in the 6th inning. Chicago bats were hot in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 10 runs on 8 hits. Chicago kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings. 

The win went to Sanderson(11-7) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Steve Carlton(13-6) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 3 walks in 2 innings.
