August 17, 1985: Expos (55-63) at Cardinals (69-48)

47,963 fans were treated to a fine game at BUSCH STADIUM as only one run separated the combatants at game's end. The St. Louis Cardinals won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. 

Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. St. Louis won it in the 13th inning. Terry Pendleton ripped a base-knock. Mike Jorgensen next to the plate and he drew a walk. Ozzie Smith then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Tom Nieto followed next and he hit a deep fly giving St. Louis the victory and sending the 47,963 home-town fans home happy. Although they lost, Montreal did out-hit St. Louis 11 to 8. 

Ricky Horton(6-2) allowed no runs in 4 innings, and picked up the victory. Dan Schatzeder(7-5) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
