August 17, 1985: Mets (79-38) at Pirates (51-65)

Johnny Ray had 2 base hits and scored 3 times at Forbes Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates came back dramatically to top the New York Mets by the score of 9 to 8. 

Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 4 runners on 2 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Mike Brown who brought the crowd to their feet when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Pittsburgh banged out 13 hits on the night. 

John Candelaria(3-0) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 innings. The loss was charged to Roger McDowell(2-4) in relief. Chuck Tanner was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win tonight!'
