August 17, 1985: Phillies (49-68) at Cubs (59-58)

In a game at WRIGLEY FIELD the Chicago Cubs got by the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 5 to 2.

The game started off with Chicago taking the lead in the first when they scored 4 runs on 2 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

Dennis Eckersley(15-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2 runs. Eckersley was helped out by Lee Smith who recorded his 27th save. John Denny(9-12) was the loser.
