Oliver had a big day at the plate. He slapped a single in the 1st inning, smashed a bases-empty homer in the 3rd inning and blasted a two-run home run in the 6th inning. Toronto finished with 13 hits while Kansas City ended up with 4.
The victory went to Stieb(21-6) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Mark Gubicza(10-9) was hit with the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 12 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
