August 18, 1985: Dodgers (71-48) at Giants (50-67)

Rick Honeycutt came through with a solid 9 innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants by a score of 4 to 0 at CANDLESTICK PARK.

Honeycutt(8-5) came through with a virtuoso performance against the San Francisco hitters. He didn't allow much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Los Angeles managed 9 hits in their victory.

Jim Gott(10-8) was the loser. 'Honeycutt gave us exactly what we needed today.' Tommy Lasorda said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
