At FENWAY PARK the phenomenal Boston Red Sox outscored the Texas Rangers 5 to 2. 

The game started off with Boston taking the lead in the first as they scored 4 runs on 4 base hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Al Nipper(8-10) and Boston. Boston had 9 hits overall, while Texas had 3. 

Nipper got help from Bob Stanley who earned his 33rd save. Dickie Noles(6-6) took the loss. He pitched 5 innings and surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk. 

Boston now has a record of 74-46. With the loss, the Texas ballclub's record is 56-63.
