August 22, 1985: Yankees (70-51) at Angels (54-67)

First baseman Don Mattingly cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the New York Yankees topped the California Angels by a score of 9 to 6 at ANAHEIM STADIUM. 

Mattingly enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He ripped a single in the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit plating a run in the 5th inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 8th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 9th inning. New York rapped out 10 hits for the night. 

Bob Shirley(7-2) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Dennis Rasmussen recorded his 1st save. Jim Slaton(8-14) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
