August 23, 1985: Rangers (57-64) at Royals (69-52)

One run was the difference at ROYALS STADIUM as the Kansas City Royals defeated the Texas Rangers in 12 innings 6 to 5. 

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Kansas City was victorious in the 12th inning. Lonnie Smith reached on an error. George Brett got his turn next, but he was a strikeout victim. Jorge Orta then lined a single resulting in a mighty exciting win for Kansas City and the 48,774 home town fans in attendance. Kansas City finished with 14 hits in the victory. 

Mike Jones(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs. Greg Harris(3-4) was the loser in relief.
