August 24, 1985: Cubs (63-60) at Reds (65-58)

The Chicago Cubs registered 6 runs in the 2nd inning and defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 6 to 3 at Crosley Field. 

Chicago scored all of the necessary runs in the 2nd inning as they scored 6 runs on 6 base hits. That early scoring held up. Cincinnati went down quietly in the bottom of the 9th. 

The win was credited to Rick Sutcliffe(14-7) who went 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Lee Smith recorded his 31st save. Jay Tibbs(9-14) was the losing pitcher. He was unable to control the Chicago offense and allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings.
