The game started off with Minnesota taking the lead in the first when they scored 5 runs on 7 hits. That early scoring was all that Viola(10-17) needed. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs scored after that point.
Jim Clancy(8-12) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
