August 26, 1985: Yankees (72-53) at A's (53-73)

Jose Canseco slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Oakland Athletics defeated the New York Yankees by a score of 7 to 4 at OAKLAND COLISEUM. 

New York never recovered after Oakland took the lead in the 5th inning with 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Carney Lansford led off and started the attack as he laced a single. Mike Davis was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Dave Kingman then smacked a single. One out later, Canseco came up and he belted a three-run homer. Oakland out-hit New York for the game, 13 hits to 6. 

Chris Codiroli(6-15) got the win allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Steve Ontiveros was credited with his 5th save. Ed Whitson(6-14) was the losing pitcher. He allowed Oakland 7 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
