August 27, 1985: Dodgers (76-51) at Mets (83-43)

Sid Fernandez retired 10 batters on strikeouts as the New York Mets outscored the Los Angeles Dodgers 3 to 2.

Fernandez(18-7) earned his pay with a solid performance for New York. He was reached for 7 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Fernandez got help from Roger McDowell who pitched a perfect ninth and was credited with his 19th save.

Jerry Reuss(13-8) ended up with the loss. When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Fernandez offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
