August 28, 1985: Cubs (64-63) at Astros (60-66)

Third baseman Ron Cey had 2 base hits and Dennis Eckersley went 8 solid innings as the Chicago Cubs bested the Houston Astros 7 to 4 at Colt Stadium. 

Chicago scored 6 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning when they came up with 7 base hits. That early run support was all that Eckersley(17-8) required. Houston had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. 

Lee Smith gained credit for his 32nd save. The losing pitcher was Nolan Ryan(12-14). Chicago scored big getting 6 runs off him in 3 innings.
