First baseman Cesar Cedeno had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the powerful St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Houston Astros 8 to 3 at BUSCH STADIUM. 

St. Louis scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of 3 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Tommy Herr who made the crowd come alive when he doubled plating two runs. St. Louis out-hit Houston for the game, 10 hits to 7. 

The win went to John Tudor(19-5) who allowed 3 runs in 7 innings. Mike Scott(6-15) suffered the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 5 hits in 6 and 1/3 innings.
