August 30, 1985: Royals (74-54) at Rangers (59-69)

34,525 fans watched an exciting game at ARLINGTON STADIUM. The Kansas City Royals topped the Texas Rangers by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4. 

The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Finally, Kansas City pulled the game out in the 12th inning. Lonnie Smith stroked a base-hit. Smith took his lead and swiped second. Two outs later Frank White stepped up to the plate and he ripped a single scoring the run. Kansas City banged out 10 hits on the night. 

Mike Jones(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 3 innings. Dan Quisenberry earned the save, his 30th. Dave Rozema(3-11) was the loser in relief.
