Roy Smalley knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Minnesota Twins outscored the Boston Red Sox in 14 innings 6 to 5. 

 The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Minnesota won it in the 14th inning. Tom Brunansky clubbed a solo home run resulting in a mighty exciting win for Minnesota and the 50,005 home town fans in attendance. Boston had 13 hits in the game while Minnesota had 7, but Minnesota had the more timely hits. 

Ken Schrom(10-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 4 and 1/3 innings. Tim Lollar(7-5) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit in 1 inning.
