September 1, 1985: Pirates (58-72) at Reds (69-62)

At Crosley Field the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the Cincinnati Reds 5 to 2. 

Pittsburgh took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning scoring a single run on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Jason Thompson doubled. One out later, Sixto Lezcano stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit scoring the run. Cincinnati could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th. 

Rick Reuschel(18-6) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Cecilio Guante earned the save, his 28th. The loss was charged to Tom Browning(12-13).
