September 3, 1985: Phillies (56-76) at Giants (57-74)

Catcher Alan Knicely went yard and had 2 RBI at CANDLESTICK PARK where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Francisco Giants by the score of 6 to 5. 

Philadelphia scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 4th inning when they had 4 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Steve Carlton who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he tripled bringing home two baserunners. San Francisco tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th. 

The victory was credited to Carlton(14-7) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run. Kent Tekulve recorded his 26th save. Atlee Hammaker(15-7) suffered the loss.
