September 6, 1985: A's (56-79) at Yankees (77-57)

Don Baylor cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the New York Yankees bested the Oakland Athletics in 15 innings 7 to 6 at YANKEE STADIUM. 

The score was tied at 5 after nine. New York came out on top in the 15th inning. After two were out Don Mattingly initiated the scoring spurt when he doubled. Dave Winfield stepped up to the plate and he lined a single. Baylor then reached on an error which plated a run. Willie Randolph came up and he laced a one-base hit giving New York the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times. 

Bob Shirley(9-2) went 2/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Jay Howell(1-8) was the loser in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 3 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
